TAFE NSW Women’s Strategy 2004 – 2010 provides a framework for all Institutes to improve access and participation, and achieve equitable outcomes for women students in vocational education and training.
Sydney Institute is committed to promoting opportunities for women students and staff from diverse backgrounds to achieve their full potential.
Leadership
One of our innovative leadership programs, Tasting Success, is a Women Chef’s Mentoring Program. This program is for apprentice women chefs' who want to be mentored by some of Australia’s leading chefs. Tasting Success mentors include Tony Bilson (Bilsons), Grant King (Pier), Kylie Kwong (Billy Kwong’s), Chui Lee Luk (Claude’s), Matt Moran (Aria), Neil Perry (Rockpool), Giovanna Toppi (Machiavelli) and Tetsuya Wakuda (Tetsuya’s).
The program has been developed by the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, Office for Women in partnership with
TAFE NSW –
Sydney Institute and with the support of industry leaders, Tourism Training Australia and HTN – Hospitality Employment Solutions.
To be eligible women must be studying Year 2 or 3 of the Certificate 3 in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery – Trade). For more information on the program

Equity
The Institute’s Equity Programs Unit develops and implements women’s strategies to assist women in achieving positive education and training outcomes. Women specific programs include:
- Work Opportunities for Women which may offer training in child care, computing, beauty therapy, bookkeeping and First Aid with language and literacy support. Students will graduate with Statement of Attainment Access to Work and Training upon course completion.
- Career Education and Employment for Women in various vocational areas. Students will graduate with Certificate II in Skills for Work & Training upon course completion.
