Disabilities support services – Sydney Institute

To ensure all students have an equal opportunity to participate in Sydney Institute courses, we provide a wide range of support to help people with disabilities achieve their educational and career goals.

If you have a disability, please feel free to introduce yourself to a counsellor or make an appointment with our disabilities consultants located at Petersham, Randwick, St George, Sutherland and Ultimo colleges who can help you with:

• pre-entry counselling
• enrolment assistance
• career planning
• tutorial assistance
• special courses and modified courses
• interpreters
• adaptive technology
• support in class
• liaison
• modifications to resources, equipment and furniture customised to meet your individual needs.

Library services for students with disabilities

Support services available at Sydney Institute campus libraries include:

• TTY – telephone typewriter for students with a hearing impairment (Design Centre Enmore, St George, Petersham and Ultimo)
• Kurtzweil Scanner to provide speech and large print output (Ultimo)
• CCTV – closed-circuit television to enlarge printed material (Ultimo)
• Zoomtext large print software
• wheelchair access (Design Centre Enmore, Eora, Petersham, Randwick, St George, Sutherland, Ultimo)
• large print books and audiotapes.

Ultimo College library has an Adaptive Technology Access Centre (ATAC). You can contact all college libraries for more information on access to adaptive technology.
