Women's education and training at Sydney Institute

Sydney Institute is committed to promoting opportunities for female students and staff from diverse backgrounds that enable them to achieve their full potential.

Our programs for women offer:

  • flexible study and timetables managed around other responsibilities
  • help to get back into the workforce after a break from employment.

Specific women’s programs include:

Work Opportunities for Women

Training in vocational areas such as child care, computing, beauty therapy, bookkeeping and First Aid, with language and literacy support. Students graduate with a Statement of Attainment Access to Work and Training.

Career Education and Employment for Women

Students graduate with Certificate II in Skills for Work and Training.

Multicultural Education Unit

Investigating issues, barriers, current provisions and gaps in training for overseas qualified nurses.

Tasting Success – Women Chef’s Mentoring Program

For apprentice chefs who want to be mentored by some of Australia’s leading gastronomes. Mentors include:

  • Tony Bilson (Bilson’s)
  • Grant King (Pier)
  • Kylie Kwong (Billy Kwong’s)
  • Chui Lee Luk (Claude’s)
  • Matt Moran (Aria)
  • Neil Perry (Rockpool)
  • Giovanna Toppi (Machiavelli)
  • Tetsuya Wakuda (Tetsuya’s)

To be eligible women must be studying Year 2 or 3 of the Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery – Trade or Non-Trade).
