Ultimo College’s close relationship with the business community enables it to provide students with training that is valued by employers. Through a variety of industry partnerships, Sydney Institute Hospitality students benefit from a range of training and employment opportunities.

Bachelor of Hospitality (Management) in partnership with the University of Ballarat

TAFE NSW Sydney Institute, in partnership with the University of Ballarat, offers a Bachelor of Hospitality (Management) program. This course has been developed to meet the global demand for senior hospitality managers. It prepares graduates with the necessary skills, knowledge and attributes to undertake a wide variety of professional positions in the hospitality industry.

Tasting Success – Women Chef’s Mentoring Program

Tasting Success is an innovative leadership program with a primary focus on women in Year 2 or 3 of the Certificate III in Hospitality Trade (Commercial Cookery) course.

The aim of the program is to increase the likelihood that participants will complete their apprenticeship and embark on a career that brings them to senior leadership positions in the hospitality industry.

Program participants receive 35 hours of mentoring with a leading chef over an 8 month period to complement the student’s course work and apprenticeship experience.

Tasting Success has been developed by the NSW Premier’s Department and Office for Women in partnership with TAFE NSWSydney Institute, with the support of HTN – Hospitality Employment Solutions, Tourism Training Australia and individuals within the hospitality sector.

Accor Hotel and Tourism Group

Sydney Institute has entered into an innovative partnership with Accor, the world’s largest hotel and tourism group. Hospitality Management students are employed by an Accor Hotel and are given the opportunity to gain work experience while studying. This unique internship opportunity to students via the Sydney Institute Job Placement Service is the only service of its kind in a TAFE NSW Institute.

Australian Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Sydney Institute and Alliance People Solutions offer those interested in a career in hospitality an opportunity to complete modules from the Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) program. Programs are fully funded 4-6 week pre-apprenticeship training courses designed to help eligible job seekers develop skills and knowledge to improve their chances of gaining a Hospitality apprenticeship or traineeship.
Sydney Institute also has a partnership with HTN (Hospitality Training Network) who provide assistance to students to make it easier to gain an apprenticeship.

Bakers Delight

TAFE NSWSydney Institute is the preferred training provider for all Bakers Delight apprentices. Bakers Delight is Australia’s leading retail baker. As part of the partnership with Bakers Delight, Sydney Institute has a purpose-built facility to train apprentices and franchisees in baking, small business, workplace hygiene, retail and customer service skills. The facility, which has been operational since early 2002, includes an internal classroom, baking facility and shop-front for retail bakery training.

Franklins

Since 2002, Franklins have been working with Sydney Institute to build the skills of their employees in Frontline Management and Retail under the existing worker traineeship program. Hospitality delivers customised training in Food Hygiene.

International Hotel Management Institute (IMI) Switzerland

Graduates of the Sydney Institute Advanced Diploma Hospitality Management program receive accredited prior learning (APL) and may directly join the final semester (six months full-time) of the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Hotel and Tourism Management at the International Hotel Management Institute (IMI) Switzerland. This partnership between TAFE NSWSydney Institute and the International Hotel Management Institute (IMI) Switzerland is aimed at helping students get a degree faster.

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Hotel and Tourism Management is designed for people who have prior qualifications in tourism and hospitality and want to advance themselves in a management career in the industry. Students learn the skills and knowledge necessary to deal with the demands of senior management in the tourism and hospitality industries.

The Navarra Group

Sydney Institute has entered into a partnership with The Navarra Group who own Le Montage, Curzon Hall and Conca D’Oro Event Centre to provide training in Certificate III Hospitality Operations (Food and Beverage) to existing worker trainees. Training is provided flexibly in the workplace and complements the skills and knowledge employees learn on the job.
