How to apply: Bachelor of Design (Interior Design)
You are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Design (Interior Design):
- NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent
- Certificate IV level or above vocational qualification
- completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution.
International students
If you are an International student whose first language is not English or you have not completed an Australian educational qualification, you must demonstrate English proficiency at IELTS level 6.5, with a minimum level of 6 in any one band.

You must meet the eligibility and entry requirements for your application to be considered.
Your Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) degree application requires the submission of the following:
- a completed TAFE NSW Higher Education Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) application form
- a portfolio of 8 – 12 examples of your own design or art work with this application. Work may include (but is not limited to) drawings, models, designs, paintings, sketches, photographs and digital media. The portfolio must be submitted on CD or DVD suitable for viewing on a PC. Original work can be scanned or digitally photographed and presented on the CD or DVD, which should be clearly labelled with your name and contact number
- a 500-word statement
which you must submit to the Design Centre Enmore.
Application interviews
Applicants must also attend an interview. Interviews will be arranged for international students.

Your application will be assessed using the following selection criteria:
- individuality of expression
- creative approach to problem solving
- demonstrated awareness of this profession
- ability to comply with the requirements of the selection process
- satisfactory review of your submitted portfolio and successful performance at the interview.
In your 500-word written statement, you will be asked to describe, in essay form, a situation where you combined creativity and analysis to solve a challenging problem. The problem you describe could be personal, social, political, environmental or something very different. The process or method used in solving the problem is a key consideration for the assessors, rather than whether you achieved a complete solution.
