What is the Productivity Places Program?

The Productivity Places Program (PPP) is part of the Commonwealth Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future initiative. The program supports training for qualifications in skills shortage areas benefitting job seekers and existing workers.

Who is eligible for the Productivity Places Program?

Everyone. Participants will be classified as either a job seeker or an existing worker pending their work situation.

Job seekers are eligible for a PPP qualification if they are:
  • not working or formally enrolled in training/school or registered with a Job Services Australia provider
  • a NSW resident and an Australian citizen.
Existing workers are eligible for a PPP qualification if they are
  • over 20 years of age and worked one hour (of paid employment) the week prior to the start training, or
  • 15-19 years of age, not formally enrolled in school, and worked more than 15 hours (of paid employment) the week prior to the start of training
  • living and working in NSW and an Australian citizen.

Can apprentices and trainees enrol in a PPP qualification?

The Productivity Places Program does not fund training for apprentices or trainees but PPP funding is available for further study after you have finished your apprenticeship/traineeship.

Is recognition of prior learning (RPL) for a PPP qualification available?

Yes.  Job seekers and exisiting workers participating in the PPP can apply for recognition of prior learning and work experience. Please see our Recognition information page.

Fees and charges

To enrol in a PPP qualification with Sydney Institute, a TAFE NSW enrolment fee needs to be paid unless the participant qualifies for a fee concession or exemption.
