Skills Recognition

Sydney Institute’s skills recognition means your staff’s previous education, training, work and life experiences may count towards the completion of their training program or course.

Skills recognition offers some excellent benefits to you and your employees as it:

  • formally acknowledges your employees competence in their jobs
  • reduces the time it takes your staff to complete all or part of their qualification
  • reduces the cost to your business
  • means staff don’t have to be trained in things they already know
  • identifies skills gaps that can then be addressed
  • makes staff development more focused.

To apply for recognition towards a national qualification your staff will need to supply evidence supporting their claim of relevant skills and knowledge. This might include:

  • certificates
  • reports
  • references from their paid or unpaid work experience
  • samples of their work
  • qualifications.

The service is included for any of your employees who are undertaking a training program or course with Sydney Institute.

Applying for recognition without evidence or Sydney Institute study

If your employee is finding it difficult to gather evidence to support their claim or they are studying somewhere other than Sydney Institute we can process recognition for the following fees:

  • initial recognition interview $150
  • identified gap training process $150 per hour.

The amount of gap training needed to complete the recognition process is determined after the initial interview. A non-refundable fee for the initial interview needs to be paid in full, in advance.
