Students must have a 7596 - C1V in 3D Animation Digital Effects, or equivalent qualification; 7872 - C1V in Digital Media or equivalent qualification, with appropriate software skills; 7840 - CIV in Screen or equivalent qualification, with appropriate software skills; or appropriate work experience. This is a program for students who want a career in the TV, film, broadcast, game development and digital media industry. It provides you with the opportunity to develop the advanced and specialised skills required by the 3D animation and digital effects industry.

This program explores the processes that are involved in creating quality 3D animated stories, promotions and effects. It develops your skills in the production, composition and integration of 3D animation in live action. This program will also equip you with the skills and knowledge required for efficient software and production practices, as well as basic MEL scripting used in the 3D animation and digital effects industry.

You will learn how to develop customised marketing plans and how to pitch a proposal for a project concept, which are valuable industry skills. This course will assist you to develop the communication skills required in such areas of the industry as customer liaison, effective workplace communication and how to relate to clients. You will also cover the occupational health and safety issues relevant to the animation and digital effects industry.

You will also gain a broader perspective on the animation and digital effects industry, including how the industry is structured, the various sectors of the entertainments industry, possible career paths and legal and copyright requirements. In addition, you will learn about the occupational health and safety issues relevant to the industry.

On successful completion of this program you will have produced an animated project and authored DVD as a showreel as samples of your work, which are essential in securing employment in the industry.

This course is covered by VET FEE-HELP. VET FEE-HELP is part of the Australian Government´s Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) and assists eligible full fee-paying students to pay for all or part of their tuition costs for certain courses with TAFE NSW Sydney Institute.
