Entry Requirements
Students must have a NSW High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent qualification and have basic computer skills. International students are required to have English proficiency to a level of TOEFL (550), IELTS (5.5) or CULT (60) or equivalent.Note: Entry requirements are the minimum qualifications, attributes, skills and /or experience that students must have to enter a program. Selection criteria will be applied if demand exceeds the supply of places.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Successful application into this program will be based on the information provided on the application form, provision of a career vision statement, evidence of previous relevant experience, and submission of a portfolio of work in a relevant or related area.
Applications will be assessed using the following selection criteria: 1. A clear Vision Statement of career goals, demonstrating your commitment to this vocational area 2. Evidence of previous education, training and/or experience in a complimentary area to include: • Previous education and training in a relevant area • Relevant workplace and life experience, including part-time, casual or voluntary work or life experience in a relevant or related area. 3. Submission of a Portfolio containing at least ten examples of work in a relevant or related area. For example: Drawings, 2D and 3D Animation, Graphic Design, Digital Image Manipulation, Computing, Multimedia, Architecture, Industrial Design, Design Fundamentals, Film and Video Production, Photography, Theatre or Film set design, Lighting and Camera work for film and video, Sculpture, Model Making, Design and Art. Description
This course will prepare you for a career in the digital design or 3D animation and effects sector of the film and television industry. It provides you with structured training for this industry sector at Australian Quality Framework (AQF) level 4.In this course, you will learn how to visualise, plan and story board 3D animation project concepts. You’ll also learn how to develop artwork to enable efficient concept visualisation, and participate in the production of a short, 3D animation using current industry-standard practices. You will learn how to produce 3D models, and output broadcast design graphics and character animations using animation and lighting techniques to current industry standards. You will develop the skills required to plan, develop and produce 3D animated projects and interactive digital media productions. You will also learn to produce and direct industry standard digital video and audio components for inclusion in digital media applications. This course will assist you to develop the communication skills required in such areas of the industry as customer liaison, effective workplace communication and how to relate to clients. You will also cover the occupational health and safety issues relevant to the animation and digital effects industry. On successful completion of this course you will have produced an animated project and other samples of work, which are essential to securing employment in the film and television industry. Articulation
On successful completion of this program students are eligible to apply to enrol in the 19200 - DIPLOMA OF 3D ANIMATION AND DIGITAL EFFECTS of which this program is a prerequisite.
