Diplomas, certificates and qualifications

What skills do you gain with each level of qualification?

 Sydney institute courses and training programs can be used to:

  • advance your career
  • change your career
  • gain skills for a particular job
  • step into a university course.

All of our programs are recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This means you can use your Sydney Institute qualification in your workplace or towards further study anywhere in Australia.

Certificate I

The foundation skills required in some industries and often a part of a suite of courses that you can progress through.

Certificate II

Preparation for employment and/or apprenticeships. They may also include traineeships with an on-the-job component.

Certificate III

Well-developed skills in a range of occupational areas.

Certificate IV

Supervisory skills and advanced technical skills that may build upon your skills gained in the workplace, a Certificate III course or equivalent.

Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas

You will gain a broad range of complex technical skills and in-depth knowledge. Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses often include training in management, planning and evaluation, budgeting and finance, and equip you with the knowledge and skills of your chosen career area.

Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas

These are studied following completion of a Degree or an Advanced Diploma. They usually include either training to build on your university undergraduate program, or training in a new professional area.

Statement of Attainment

You are introduced to a new area of work or gain additional skills in your current career. When you complete a Statement of Attainment, it can be used as a credit transfer into a higher-level TAFE NSW course.

TAFE Statements

Awarded for specialist courses focusing on specific skills.

Selected Study Program

Study units based on your own special interest or needs. You will receive a statement listing the units of competency and modules achieved.
